British Columbia and Manitoba Nominate Candidates as Alberta Updates Its Pool

This week, British Columbia and Manitoba extended invitations to candidates aiming for provincial nominations through economic streams based on employment, education, or business intentions. Meanwhile, Alberta provided updates on its Expression of Interest (EOI) pools under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

British Columbia

On January 28, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) issued invitations to at least two candidates under its entrepreneur immigration streams. These invitations were extended through both the Base Entrepreneur and Regional Entrepreneur streams, requiring a minimum score of 123.

Invitation Details:

StreamMinimum ScoreNumber of Invitations
Base Entrepreneur Stream123<5
Regional Entrepreneur Stream123<5

The Regional Entrepreneur stream holds invitation rounds approximately once a month for candidates referred by participating communities. Meanwhile, the Base Entrepreneur stream conducts selections less frequently, considering factors like:

  • Registration score
  • Proposed business location and community size
  • Type of business (start-up or acquisition)
  • Alignment with priority business sectors

Manitoba

On February 6, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted two draws under the International Education Stream and the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream.

  • International Education Stream: 59 invitations were issued to candidates with at least four years of full-time work experience within the past five years. Eligible candidates needed supporting documentation for their experience. The MPNP did not disclose the minimum score for this draw.
  • Skilled Worker Overseas Stream: 17 invitations were issued under a strategic recruitment initiative, requiring a minimum score of 612.

In total, 76 invitations were issued across both streams, including 18 candidates who also held a valid Express Entry profile.
