Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another round of invitations through the Express Entry system, issuing 7,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a draw targeting French language proficiency candidates.
To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 379 and must have created their Express Entry profile before 2:53 a.m. Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on March 6, 2025.
This draw marks the lowest CRS cut-off since February 29, 2024, and is the fourth draw of the month. It also follows two other draws held earlier this week—one for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on March 17 and another focused on French-speaking candidates earlier in the month.

The most recent Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw took place on February 5, where 4,000 candidates received invitations. So far this year, IRCC has issued a total of 30,683 ITAs under the Express Entry system.
IRCC has reiterated its commitment to prioritizing candidates already in Canada for permanent residence, a trend that has been evident in its draws since mid-2024.
While Prime Minister Mark Carney has yet to issue a formal Mandate Letter to newly appointed Immigration Minister Rachel Bendayan, prioritizing in-Canada candidates is a policy that Canada’s new leader has previously supported.
What Happens to an Express Entry Profile After One Year?
Express Entry profiles remain valid for up to a year. Once expired, they are no longer active in the system.
Candidates who wish to stay in the Express Entry pool after their profile expires must submit a new application through the IRCC permanent residence portal. It is advisable to save previous profile details for easier re-entry.
Additionally, the timing of profile submission can impact eligibility for an ITA due to IRCC’s tie-breaking rule. This rule states that candidates must have submitted their profile before a specific cut-off time to be considered. Even if a candidate meets the CRS cut-off score, they may not receive an ITA if their profile was created after the tie-breaker deadline.
