The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has invited 158 candidates to apply for provincial nomination through two separate immigration draws held on May 13 and May 15.
Breakdown of the Draws:
Draw Date | Immigration Stream | Invitations Issued | Cut-off Score |
May 15 | Tourism and Hospitality Stream | 33 | 72 |
May 13 | Alberta Opportunity Stream | 125 | 76 |
Total invitations issued: 158
This marks the second round of invitations in 2025 under the Tourism and Hospitality Stream. Introduced in 2024, this stream was created to address ongoing labour shortages in Alberta’s tourism and hospitality sector and support employers in retaining qualified workers.
To qualify under this stream, candidates must have at least six months of work experience in a tourism or hospitality business in Alberta, hold a valid full-time job offer from an approved employer, and meet the required education and language benchmarks.
The May 13 draw also represents the second general draw of the year under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. Earlier draws in 2025 have targeted candidates with experience in aviation and construction sectors.
2025 Nomination Allocation and Current Status:
Alberta has been allocated 4,875 nomination slots for 2025. So far, 2,077 of these have been issued.
As of the latest update, the program’s official website provides a snapshot of nomination spaces and expressions of interest (EOIs) in the pool for each stream:
Stream | 2025 Allocation | Remaining Spaces | EOIs in Pool |
Tourism and Hospitality Stream | 245 | 122 | 5,755 |
Alberta Opportunity Stream | 2,592 | 1,376 | 37,934 |
Candidates who receive an invitation through the AAIP can proceed to apply for a provincial nomination. If successful, they may then apply for Canadian permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
