Alberta Issues 1,300+ Invitations in Three Immigration Draws

Within the duration of one week, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted three draws and one of those draws was the second largest this year as on 12th October 2025. These draws included candidates from Tech occupations and in-demand sectors prioritized by the province. 

Overview of the Draws:

Between October 1 and October 7, the AAIP extended about 1,324 ITAs or Invitations To Apply through its three immigration streams namely:

Consistent with 2025 draws trends, the Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for the highest number of invitations issued by Alberta. 

So far this year, between Jan 1, 2025 and Oct 12, 2025, Alberta has issued:

  • 6 Draws under Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority Sectors (Construction)
  • 7 Draws under Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway
  • 10 Draws under Alberta Opportunity Stream

Alberta Opportunity Stream: For temporary foreign workers currently employed full time in Alberta with a qualifying full time job offer from an eligible Alberta employer.

Accelerated Tech Pathway under Express Entry: For those qualified tech professionals who are either working in Alberta or have a valid job offer in an eligible tech occupation  from an eligible Alberta Employer.

Priority Sectors (Construction) under Express Entry: For those workers in the construction industry who in their Express Entry profile have mentioned an eligible construction occupation as their primary occupation and may have a job offer from an eligible Alberta employer working in the construction industry. 

A point to be noted is that under Express Entry Aligned streams, candidates must meet the requirements of the federal Express Entry System. 

Recent increase in nomination places:

On September 9, the province of Alberta announced that it received an increase in 1,528 nominations under AAIP. The total nomination allocation for AAIP for this year is now 6,403 up from 4,875; that was in January 2025. According to Alberta, this increase will help in addressing local labour market needs and support key economic priorities. The province of Alberta as a consequence of its labour market priorities has redistributed its nominations under various streams. Alberta Advantage Immigration Program nominations by stream (2025):

As on October 10th of 2025, AAIP has issued 4,228 nominations of its total 6,403 nominations. Alberta still has 2,175 nomination slots available for the remaining year.
