  • Your spouse or partner’s dependent children

You must count them even if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or not accompanying you to Canada.

What Counts as Proof of Funds?

You must provide official letters from the banks or financial institutions where you hold your accounts. These letters must include:

  • Your name
  • Contact details of the institution
  • Any outstanding debts
  • Details of each account (account numbers, opening date, current and average balances over the last six months)

Only readily available funds count. You cannot use borrowed money or equity from property as proof. Funds in a joint account or under your spouse’s name may be used if you can prove access.

About the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)

The AIP is an employer-driven pathway that helps foreign nationals move to Canada’s Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces
  • Get the job offer endorsed by the province
  • Be either a skilled worker or a recent graduate from an Atlantic Canadian post-secondary institution

You must also meet requirements related to language ability, education, and settlement funds. Once you have an endorsed job offer, you can apply for permanent residency through the federal government. You may also apply for a special work permit (valid for up to two years) to work while your PR application is processed.
