The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has had a busy start to September, conducting seven separate draws and issuing a total of 1,376 Invitations to Apply (ITAs). These draws targeted candidates with Alberta job offers who are positioned to ease labor shortages in key high-demand industries.
September draws at a glance
Between September 2 and September 10, most invitations were issued through the Alberta Express Entry Stream and the Dedicated Health Care Pathway. With the month only half over, Alberta has already surpassed its previous monthly invitation totals for 2025.
The largest draw so far took place on September 4, when 891 invitations were issued under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. This stream continues to be the province’s most in-demand immigration pathway, holding the highest nomination allocation and receiving nearly 42,000 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in its pool.

AAIP streams and priority sectors
Earlier this year, Alberta announced that invitations under the Alberta Express Entry Stream would focus on priority sectors, in addition to its three designated pathways:
- Dedicated Health Care Pathway
- Accelerated Tech Pathway
- Law Enforcement Pathway
The priority sectors for 2025 include construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare—all critical areas where the province is facing workforce gaps.
Provincial nomination updates
As of September 11, Alberta has provided the following breakdown of its 2025 nominations:

In total, Alberta has a nomination allocation of 4,875 for 2025. By September 11, it had issued 3,749 nominations, leaving 1,126 spaces available for the remainder of the year. At the same time, the province confirmed it is still processing 1,768 pending applications.
