The CEC stream is specifically designed for individuals who have gained valuable work experience in Canada and wish to transition to permanent residency. This pathway is considered one of the fastest routes to PR, as applicants are already familiar with Canada’s work culture and living environment.
This draw marks the second Express Entry round in August, following a healthcare and social services category-based selection draw on July 22, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on July 21, and another CEC-specific draw on July 8.
With this latest round, IRCC has now issued 50,628 ITAs in 2025. While PNP draws have taken the largest share this year, IRCC has also prioritized invitations for CEC candidates, French-speaking applicants, and individuals in priority occupations such as healthcare, STEM, and trades.
Draw Type | Number of Draws |
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) | 14 |
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) | 8 |
French-language proficiency | 3 |
Healthcare and social services | 3 |

Experts believe that focusing on CEC candidates helps Canada retain talent already integrated into the labour market, supporting economic growth and reducing skills shortages. For applicants, receiving an ITA through CEC means they can bypass some requirements that apply to overseas candidates, making the process more streamlined.
If you are currently working in Canada and meet the CEC eligibility criteria, now is an excellent time to ensure your Express Entry profile is updated. With continued draws targeting CEC candidates, your chances of receiving an invitation may increase in the coming months.
