Manitoba issues new invitations to skilled workers in latest draw

Manitoba conducted its second provincial draw of August this week under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), inviting skilled workers to apply for permanent residency.

The invitations were issued based on the candidate’s skilled work experience, scores in the Expression of Interest (EOI) system, and participation in targeted recruitment efforts. This marks the province’s 17th immigration draw of the year.

Draw highlights
On August 21, Manitoba invited candidates through the Skilled Worker Stream, which includes both the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways. A total of 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued. Among them, 18 invitations went to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.

The lowest-ranked candidate invited in Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #252 had a score of 612.

Notably, only candidates who received direct invitations from the MPNP through strategic recruitment initiatives were considered in this draw.

Breakdown of LAAs by initiative

  • Employer Services: 6
  • Francophone Community: 29
  • Regional Communities: 31
  • Ethnocultural Communities: 11

Why some candidates may not have received an invitation
The MPNP clarified that some candidates who met the cut-off score might not have received an LAA due to incomplete or incorrect information in their EOI profile, such as:

  • Submitting expired or invalid language test results.
  • Indicating participation in a recruitment initiative without providing a valid invitation number.

About strategic recruitment initiatives
Strategic recruitment initiatives are designed to address Manitoba’s labour shortages by targeting candidates with in-demand skills. These initiatives are often led by employers, communities, or specific groups that require long-term workforce support.

Through this approach, employers can bring in international talent to meet their needs while helping qualified candidates secure permanent residency in Manitoba. To participate, employers must meet program requirements and complete the province’s ABC Recruitment Process before submitting international candidates for consideration.

Candidates selected through these initiatives are assessed on factors such as age, education, work experience, and language ability, along with meeting the criteria of the specific stream they are invited under.
