Newfoundland and Labrador Invites More Than 200 Candidates Through PNP and AIP

Newfoundland and Labrador has invited 202 candidates to apply for immigration through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

In the latest draw held on August 29, the province distributed 125 invitations to NLPNP candidates and 77 invitations to AIP candidates.

Recent Draw Highlights

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) has been actively conducting draws. Below is a breakdown of the last three rounds:

The NLPNP has not specified which streams of its program these invitations were issued under. However, since May this year, the program has been conducting two draws each month, with most invitations going to NLPNP candidates.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for immigration through the NLPNP or AIP, candidates must:

  • Have a valid job or job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) that matches the province’s labour market needs.

Selected candidates under the NLPNP will receive an email invitation and can apply for provincial nomination through the Immigration Accelerator portal.

For AIP candidates, designated employers will be notified by email and will also receive an ITA confirmation letter through the portal. Employers can then apply for endorsement of the job offer.

It’s important to note that all applicants (except those already living in Canada and applying only through the NLPNP) will need an invite code from their employer before submitting an EOI.

Immigration Background in Newfoundland and Labrador

This year, Newfoundland and Labrador has a provincial nomination allocation of 2,525 spaces across both the NLPNP and AIP.

Earlier in February, the province announced an increase in its allocation, giving it the capacity to nominate an additional 1,000 foreign nationals. Meanwhile, the AIP endorsement allotment remains at 475 spaces.

The NLPNP also recently moved to an Expression of Interest system, aligning itself with the other Provincial Nominee Programs across Canada and creating a more structured two-step process: candidate – applicant.
