Ontario’s immigration program is active once again after a four-month break. On June 6, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held a targeted draw specifically for candidates with job offers in the Greater Sudbury region.
This latest draw focused on applicants under three different Employer Job Offer streams. Here’s how the invitations were distributed:
- Foreign Worker Stream: 32 invitations | Minimum score: 36
- International Student Stream: 34 invitations | Minimum score: 54
- In-Demand Skills Stream: 6 invitations | Minimum score: 32
In total, 72 candidates were invited in this draw. To be eligible, applicants needed to have created their profiles by June 3, 2025, and must also meet specific criteria such as:
- Holding a valid job offer from an employer in Greater Sudbury
- Currently residing in Canada
- Possessing a bachelor’s degree or higher
Successful candidates must submit their complete applications by June 20, 2025 through the official OINP portal.
This new round of invitations comes shortly after OINP resumed its Provincial Nominee Program draws on June 3, where 3,719 invitations were issued across various Employer Job Offer streams.
Before these June draws, the OINP had only conducted one round in 2025, a very limited draw on January 15, where just four candidates were invited under the Foreign Worker Stream. These applicants were part of the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, which targets skilled refugees and displaced workers.
Reduction in Nomination Slots for 2025
OINP has also announced a cut in its total nomination allocation for 2025. The province will now nominate 10,750 applicants, a reduced number compared to previous years. This change could impact the number and size of future draws.
New Employer-Led EOI System Launching July 2
A major update is also coming soon. Starting July 2, the OINP will introduce a new Employer of Interest (EOI) system. Unlike the current setup, where applicants initiate the process, the new system will require employers to start by submitting job position details through an online Employer Portal.
Key changes include:
- Moving from a paper-based to a fully digital process
- Employers must submit details before candidates can register an Expression of Interest (EOI)
- Applicants with pending EOIs will need to work with their employers to restart their applications after the new system goes live
The new EOI system will apply to the following streams:
- Foreign Worker Stream
- International Student Stream
- In-Demand Skills Stream
More detailed guidance will be made available on the OINP website when the system officially launches.
